India has a long common-law tradition, similar to many African legal systems, which makes it a natural place for African students to study law. NatMas founder Allan Masuku himself earned a B.B.A-LL.B in India.
Law degrees available
- BA LL.B / BBA LL.B: five-year integrated degrees combining law with arts or business, entered straight after secondary school.
- LL.B: three-year degree for students who already have a Bachelor’s.
- LL.M: postgraduate law in areas like corporate, international, human rights or intellectual property law.
Important: check recognition at home
To practise as a lawyer in your home country you will usually need to meet local requirements, such as conversion exams or law school, set by your national law society or bar council. Check these rules before you enrol so your degree leads where you want it to.
